the wii has one benefit: PS3 and 360 don't have any of Nintendo's core franchise's (Zelda, Metroid, (Mario))

Two words: Couch Multiplayer.
I know it doesn't matter much to you, but when you and your friends get smashed, are you going to want to get frustrated by an FPS, RTS,or even a sports game? Well, I'll tell you the people who have to endure listening to you certainly won't. Meanwhile; Wii. Simple, easy, 'fun' games that you can play with any mind-set. Think about other people.
Oh, and the fact that the Wii outsells both Xbox and PS3 combined doesn't hurt.

I know I feel a lot better after playing a shooter or RPG or TBG or something than the lame minigame collections that get old quickly from the Wii...

I'm referring to Wii sports/ fit/ whatever actually uses the Wiimote. As a general rule of thumb, drunk or too young would rather play with the friends beside them something easy, then play against someone in another house.

Plus, why does no one praise the good old controller? It is way easier to control a guy jumping on small platforms with buttons that with uncertain movements of your hand.
